Two Plays By Anup Chakraborty
In 2222AD what would be the fate of „Love‟? The usual and common answer would be negative. But the message of „Yet to Arrive‟ is not at all negative. In 2222AD love would be an unknown and unheard word to the people, but lady robot Omega- 25 would discover the very fragrance of love. She would feel love within herself, and not having love she would be agitated, perturbed and protestant. Her Protest would not be confined to just protest, but it would enhance to the protest against the civilization of 2222AD as a whole, and it would be a protest against mechanization of human being. The second play of the collection is „Amazing Spring‟, the english version of „Ashcharya Basanta‟. Cloning is illigal in the court of law. The world is agitated over it. Discussions, debate are still on. The play „Amazing Spring‟ is not really about cloning but about love which never died.
