The Adventure of the Dancing Men

Possibly, this story took place at the end of July 1898. Mr. Hilton Cubitt of Norfolk comes to Holmes and Watson because he is concerned about the strange attitudes of his wonderful wife, Elsie, an American, whom he married last year, and promised not to inquire in her terrible past, which she left behind. Nonetheless, Elsie received a letter from USA, which upset her considerably, and then strange figures of dancers appeared on scraps of paper, which made her extremely distressed. Sherlock Holmes asks his client to provide him with a copy of each drawing of the dancers as they appear, and he concentrates studying this encrypted language, being convinced that an American from her past is sending coded messages to Mrs. Elsie.
