
aspeers is the first European graduate journal for American Studies. It was launched in 2007, this is the first issue.
It contains academic contributions by: Johannes Barthel (Hybridity as a "Narrative of Liberation" in Trevor D. Rhone’s Old Story Time), Konstantin Butz (Rereading American Hardcore: Intersectional Privilege and the Lyrics of Early Californian Hardcore Punk), Frank Cyba (“An Older Light Than Ours:” Faulkner’s Reflections on Race and Racism in Light in August), Judith Freiin von Falkenhausen (The Influence of Sigmund Freud’s Clark Lectures on American Concepts of the Self), Stuart Noble (Don DeLillo and Society’s Reorientation to Time and Space: An Interpretation of Cosmopolis), Rosi Smith (Seeing Through the Bell Jar: Distorted Female Identity in Cold War America), and art contributions by Jonathon Dore, Myronn Hardy, David Mills, and Kathrin Zöller.
