Bawang Putih Bawang Merah is the Malaysian version of folklore about two stepsisters, Bawang Putih and Bawang Merah. Bawang Merah is a kind girl, while Bawang Putih is wicked. Despite mistreatment, Bawang Merah remains patient. By burying Bawang Merah's mother's bones she swore to become a fish and become a magical cradle, Bawang Merah was able to marry the prince. The story teaches moral values to many people
especially children.
