Atlas Family History, Volume VII

Oral history has traced the origins of the Atlas surname in East Carroll Parish, Louisiana, USA to King Atlas, Sr. who was born between 1809 and 1810 and died between 1891 and 1892 in Lake Providence, LA. As the father of all Atlas family descendants in the parish, to date, King Atlas, Sr. has over 3,000 descendants dispersed between 23 states and the countries Austria, Germany, and the United Kingdom. This family history book, and the website AtlasFamily.Org, have been a work in progress for over 35 years. This commemorative edition of family history was published to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Atlas Family Genealogy Research Project, the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and family participation in the United States Civil Rights Movement.
