This is the story of Sara who goes through some difficulties in life: growing up within a dysfunctional family; going to university and getting involved in radical, leftist movements and participating in some of their abusive tactics; falling in love and getting married, only to realize how brittle concepts such as 'love ' and 'marriage' are; working in a psychiatric ward and feeling it necessary to use staff and patients to promote herself; getting rich; experiencing her daughter commit suicide; being expelled from the hospital; working as a bartender; coping with old age, loneliness, isolation; and lastly, a social worker, who was taking care of her, reveals his identity to her absolute horror!
She eventually asks herself: was she immoral in her life? Does morality exist? Was there a meaning to her life? Should she have been punished for what she did?
Did her life meaning anything?
Or nothing?
And if her life meant nothing, then why write about it anyway?
