Grandma's War - Memories of a Childhood

This book is dedicated to my family – so they will never forget their past. Memoirs are memories you hold in your heart. What follows is the result of hours spent listening to my mother, Phyllis Cheetham who, in her nineties, remembered much, much more than me and was able to correct some of my mistaken or distorted memories. This book is a tribute to her and to the thousands of women and children who endured the hardships of the war years, the food rationing and the fear of bombing, wondering whether their loved ones would be saved from the ravages of war, and then trying to settle down to living normal lives again once the war was over.
