In this first book of his three-volume memoir, Barry W. Lynn recounts his work as a clergyperson in the United Church of Christ and as a lawyer admitted to practice at the US Supreme Court. His work included years of fighting to achieve amnesty for Vietnam war resisters and aid to veterans who were falling through the cracks. His passion for correcting injustice and inequality guided his advocacy to legislators, in hundreds of speeches, and on thousands of TV and radio shows, and podcasts. He took on the high and mighty with his repartee and keen intelligence. Along the way he cultivated deep and lasting friendships with well-known comedians, musicians, and actors, who shared his passion for social justice. Many of the issues Lynn has tackled over the course of his career are still relevant today. He continues to actively engage in everything from book banning to preserving democracy.
