This book isn’t a ‘seven steps to greatness’ kind of a book, nor does it carry much of the business jargon and church growth strategies many leadership books seem to be continuing to point to today. It's a book about how God shapes the life of a leader, through trials and challenges, looking specifically at the life of Joseph, from the Promise to the Pit before arriving in the Palace. It’s a renewed call to take the narrow path of Jesus, to surrender to the inner work of the Spirit and not rely on external job titles or even ‘gifting’. Promise to Palace will challenge you to adopt a posture and not a position of leadership, more akin to suffering and trials rather than success and popularity. It reminds us that to truly get to the Palace, the Lord will take us through pits and prisons on the way. There are no shortcuts to avoid suffering as God graciously uses this to develop the character in us to love well.
