TEXAS, HE WAS INNOCENT

ByBENTE HJORTSHOEJ

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Gregory Edward Wright was wrongfully executed in Texas on October 30th 2008. This is the story of his friendship with the author, Bente Hjortshoej, a teacher of English at Aglo High School in Norway, and of her experience of him and his efforts to clear his name. In the years that followed their first exchanges of letters in 2000, Bente joined with others to mount a support network for Greg that led to a fierce legal fight on his behalf, and the revelation of evidence that should have led to his exoneration. Bente describes the joyful moments of success and the disappointments of legal rejection. She also describes the horror when Greg, she, friends and family realized that the state of Texas would proceed with execution despite the new evidence of innocence. There is no better condemnation of the death penalty in America. Connie Wright, Greg's wife, adds her thoughts in a final chapter.
