We are pleased to present the twenty-third volume of the Bhakta Bandhav Anthology, consisting of the lectures of Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja, Bhakta Bandhav Srila Gurudeva, spoken in January, of 1998, in Australia. As Srila Gurudeva’s disciples and followers, we are striving to honor and please him, with this presentation of his hari-katha. Below we are sharing some of the themes of this volume with inspiring excerpts from Srila Gurudeva’s discourses. On January 11th, Srila Gurudeva spoke about his mission coming to the West, saying, “I want only to develop the hearts of the devotees. I am not here for self-gain, but only to give you the message of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu in the line of Rupa Gosvami and under the guidance of Srila Bhaktivedanta Svami Maharaja. He told me that I should help the devotees, in whom their hearts he has planted the seed of bhakti. Really they are wanting this thing. Everywhere I go I feel like this. The devotees are hankering for hari-katha and to develop their hearts. They don’t want to go to politics and other bad things, only managing and controlling. They want pure devotion and love for Krsna and Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. They want to know who Rupa Gosvami was and what was his mission.” On January 16th, Srila Gurudeva spoke about the importance of chanting the mahamantra and remembering Krsna, stating, “Great personalities, acaryas, like Srila Bhaktivedanta Svami Maharaja, our Gurudeva, and before that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Krsna Himself, they descended to this world to give the way and process of how anyone can realize their soul and Krsna. So in brief I can say that if you will remember Him and pray to Him, by chanting Krsna’s name, Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, you can easily overcome death and birth, and the sorrows and sufferings of this world. Then a real pure devotion and love for Godhead will come and you will be qualified to make a mission for giving the whole world happiness. This was the mission of all of our acaryas and Srila Bhaktivedanta Svami Maharaja, and my mission is the same.”
