We are pleased to present the sixteenth volume of the Bhakta Bandhav Anthology, consisting of the lectures of Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja, Bhakta Bandhav Srila Gurudeva, spoken from May 14th to May 26th, of 1997, in New Braj, California. After his return to India in the fall of 1996 from his first world tour, hundreds of Western devotees flocked to Vrndavan-dhama to follow Srila Gurudeva on Vraja-mandala Parikrama in the auspicious month of Kartik. Having become immersed in the nectar of his hari-katha and enlivened by his presence of pure bhakti, devotees from many different countries and communities began inviting Srila Gurudeva to come and perform hari-katha festivals in their various locations. In this way, Srila Gurudeva nourished the devotees and fulfilled the request of his beloved siksa-guru, Srila Bhaktivedanta Svami Prabhupada, who had asked him before his departure to help guide his followers. Srila Svami Prabhupada had requested Srila Gurudeva numerous times to travel and assist him in preaching to the Western countries. To fulfill this desire of his siksa-guru and dear friend was one of the primary reasons for Srila Gurudeva’s travel to the West. On May 26th, on his last day in New Braj in 1997, Srila Gurudeva said, “I advise you to follow Rupa Gosvami’s instruction and never criticize anyone. If someone is performing bad activities, he is simply doing harm to himself. If you will criticize anyone, looking at the bad side of his character, then all his bad qualities will come to you, and Yama will come to punish you first. So always try to see the good qualities of the Vaisnavas, and always absorb yourself in hearing, chanting and remembering Krsna. Even if people are out of caste and creed, if they are bad, still you should not criticize them. Try to always remember their good qualities and to glorify devotees. This is the way. Rupa Gosvami and Svamiji are advising that we should guard against criticizing.” We pray to the devotee community to accept our humble effort to present Srila Gurudeva’s teachings in the form of this collection of his discourses and darsanas. Offering our obeisance to Sri Guru-pada-padma, the Guru-varga, and all Vaisnavas, we pray for their mercy, and the mercy of Sri Sri Radha-Raman Biharijiu.
