What endeavors you are doing, they should all be for Krsna, to please Krsna. If you are eating a meal and you are thinking that, ‘This is to please Krsna,’ then that is bhakti. Why are you coming here? So that Krsna will be pleased. You should think that, ‘If I am going in this association, then I will be qualified to serve Krsna. That is why I am coming.’ Why are you sleeping? Why are you sleeping? At night, why do you sleep? If you are sleeping so that, ‘In the morning I will be fresh to serve Krsna. I will have renewed energy to meditate, to chant, to remember, to read books and to be qualified and thus I will serve Krsna and the devotees.’ If that is why you are sleeping, then it will be bhakti, otherwise not. Bhakti is always uttama-bhakti. But in this world, there may be some adulteration in that. For example, un­con­taminated water means pure water, meaning that in this water there is no color, smell or adulteration of any kind caused by the addition of another substance. Similarly the words uttama-bhakti refer to devotion that is devoid of any contamination, adulteration, or attachment to mate­rial possessions and that is performed in an exclu­sive manner. So, there are two kinds of water. Similarly, there are two kinds of bhakti. Uttama bhakti, the best bhakti, and that which is not bhakti but seems like it is bhakti.
