This is the story of a young girl’s misfortunes and blessings and how they affected all the people around her throughout her life. I attempt to show others what it means to have courage and deal with whatever happens. The story will show declines into holes of darkness and despair, and the scratching and clawing to climb out of those dark holes only to slip and slide back, time after time, finally to remain on top, in the brightness. The story tells about poverty, Polio, and the struggle to survive the Great Depression. It is a story of a young girl who barely survived a car accident, and of the thirty to forty surgeries it took to repair her face. You will read about alcoholism, broken marriages, betrayal, and bankruptcy. The story includes the suicide of my brother in law and the murder of my niece. You will find it is an honest story, with no shortage of failure and despair, though I intend it to be a story of hope.
