An alternative approach to clustering is to use
betweenness (Brandes, 2001) to divide the graph
into clusters, instead of removing edges representing the lowest similarity (Newman & Girvan,
2004). Betweenness is a measure of centrality,
the relative importance of a node or edge in a
graph. To calculate betweenness, we must first
calculate all shortest paths between nodes in
the graph.
