In July 1965 the Royal Corps of Transport was formed and a few weeks later I joined it. I started my service life as an heavy crane operator in the maritime branch of the Corps and in 1992 I was finally posted to the Regular Army Reserve of Officers list, soon after which the RCT ceased to be and the Royal Logistic Corps was formed.
During my career I held nine ranks in four trades. I served in twelve Corps units and set my uniformed feet on the soil of twenty countries. I held appointments with the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines and the Royal Air Force. There is a story in there somewhere and as memoirs are not the exclusive domain of generals.......
.....this is my story.
It is based on my experiences, about people and places and events that I have known, not a definitive record of the Royal Corps of Transport, but my life in it. I have had great fun researching and writing it. I hope you enjoy reading it.
