Lives Lived tells the story of those resilient individuals who were part of the fur trade which, during the first half of the 19th century, extended from northern British Columbia to southern Oregon. Volume 1 introduces the people and companies that were involved in the fur trade between 1793 and 1858. It provides an overview of the built structures of the fur trade, including characteristics of fur trade posts and forts. It also provides an extensive discussion of the dynamics of fur traders' day-to-day lives.
