The Jack O' Lantern comes from ancient Ireland and the Celtic Isles! In the middle ages, each village would have a night watchman, or town crier. The Night Watchman scared kids so they would stay indoors and out of trouble. He became known as Jack in the stories, the turnip changed into a pumpkin over time, and it was all added into the Halloween celebrations!
