This book, originally printed in 1903, contains a wonderful selection of poetry and other pieces that are graded, from first to eighth grade. Children will enjoy reading these poems, and their minds will be enriched by learning some of them to recite by heart. From the original preface: "A fine thought or beautiful image, once stored in the mind, even if at first it is received indifferently and with little understanding, is bound to recur again and again, and its companionship will have a sure, if unconscious, influence.
