As a young executive watching seemingly invincible P&G business stagnate, after the cyclic nature of growth between 1999 and 2010 struck me as a non-coincidental pattern. It was everywhere if you look carefully. With its simple yet profound representation of this cycle, the Sigmoid Curve as a framework offered a glimmer of understanding in a time of ambiguity. Over the years, as I transitioned from corporate executive to start-up founder, management consultant and then to chief commercial executive of a large private construction company, the Sigmoid Curve became a cornerstone of my approach to identify the business strategy as per the sigmoid phase of the entity. I witnessed firsthand how businesses and people, blinded by their peak success, failed to anticipate their stagnation and decline and how they could start a second curve and thrive again.
