The Stone Hunters

Promotion to a full-fledged Warrior of the Pantheon means little to Mike Roades. In the wake of his master and brother brutally slain by his enemies for protecting a being he wants nothing to do with, this same being now follows him in his dreams and in his waking life, offering a friendship he knows he can never trust but cannot bring himself to destroy her. Tired and agitated he seeks refuge with some old comrades from his past, but soon he becomes embroiled in a desperate fight to save not only some local wildlife, but perhaps all of Runaway Village itself. Dentist Sam Stevens meanwhile is on a mission of her own. Her Guide killed protecting her from the ruthless ADE and his apprentice, her new Guide avoiding her at every turn, she sets out to discover the secrets of his change in attitude. But these two can't stay separated for long, their quests are destined to intercept one another as a brutal battle for the lives of animals and people alike continues.
