The Preacher's Charge and People's Duty

The Preacher's Charge and People's Duty

ByC. Matthew McMahonJohn Brinsley

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
John Brinsley (1600-1665), was a Presbyterian puritan divine who was a powerful Reformed Gospel preacher and writer. Brinsley focuses on the preacher and the hearer using 2 Tim. 4:2, “Preach the word; be instant in season, and out of season.” If God has ordained the preacher to herald his message, then there must also be "people to do the hearing." This work, then, not only applies to the preacher’s charge, but the people’s duty to hear earnestly and diligently what the preacher has said. The minister’s charge is a duty to preach the Gospel of Christ, as the herald of God, to all people, in all cases, in the name of Christ, boldly, faithfully and plainly. Preachers are to be earnest and diligent in performing this duty, and by way of compliment, the hearer of the word is to strive to hear diligently and earnestly. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.
