Archbishop Lefebvre - The Reluctant 'Rebel'

In 1988, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre shocked the whole world by consecrating four bishops without the approval of Rome. He maintained he was only doing so out of love for the traditional Catholic Mass and the Catholic priesthood. Nearly thirty years after his death, this "Rebel Bishop's" work is still flourishing, with 658 priests currently in his Society of St Pius X. Who was this bishop? Was he a rebel, a true defender of the Catholic Faith, or something in-between?
