"Tongues in the Valley" is an attempt to describe and analyze the history of Pentecostalism in Canada's Ottawa Valley. Using the context of nineteenth-century religion, economics, demographics, and culture in Canada, this book traces the antecedents of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC)as it develops various institutions and structures to deal with the demands of its people, government, and secular society. The growth and development of the PAOC is best understood in its relationships to other Christian denominations in the United States and Canada. Classical Pentecostalism (PAOC) is also discussed in relation to other charismatic movements such as Neo-Pentecostalism, the charismatic movement in the Roman Catholic Church, and the Vineyard Movement.
