THE STATUTES OF CALIFORNIA - 1854

ByCALIFORNIA STATE LEGISLATURE

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
This is a classic reprint of the first edition that was written between January and May of 1854, at the cities of Benicia and Sacramento, just four years after official statehood. The primary book was found (half hidden) at the remote estate of a wealthy antiquarian in Oregon City, Oregon (another city with historical importance). At one point in time it was rescued from a fire, and there is a smaller blackened mark on the pages (that gradually diminishes to about page 60) indicating what had been done to the covers (they were a sight). Something which piqued my interest is the stamp on the title page from the Arizona (Illegible word) Historical Society. At what point in time did it arrive there and what were the circumstances surrounding that procurement? The mystery remains; nevertheless, Rose City Books is proud to have rescued and resuscitated the authentic, legislative law book, to bring this new edition to the public.
