This is a very difficult book to read. It will be a painful reality because this book touches what is supposed to be Holy to most of the Christian people. But this is not about Christianity, it is about Catholicism. It is not the same. What could be more devastating than the crimes committed by clergy? Acting as evil children who do not yet have all their mental abilities? Yet, mature and supposed to know the difference between Good and Evil? Clergy who used to threaten to call on man from their pulpit how that man should live. What he may and may not. Which is chaste and unchaste. Which is sinful and not sinful. In short: what is Good and Evil? But still. It took many decades for the frightened, traumatized victims to speak out. Innumerable people have been destroyed for life. Not only because of the facts, but also and probably, above all, because of the laxity of an entire society that did not want to know. A government that knew, but did nothing. Whether that government was ecclesiastical or civil, they knew and they looked the other way. Whitewashed graves. Decades of terror, nightmares, failure in everything they undertook, indefinable fears, depressions that were misunderstood, lack of initiative, submissiveness, suicidal tendencies in a labyrinth of unspoken ghosts that roam day and night, memories of humiliations, broken dreams, eternal doubts about the Self and others, distrust of everyone, flashbacks at the most unexpected moments, broken relationships due to triangular relationships where one entity remained invisible to the partner, trying to survive and pushing away the eternal destructive secret again and again ... not believed not be taken seriously when people finally found the courage to talk about the evil they went through as innocent children. That is the fate of the innumerable victims and survivors of what an apparently blind Power has wrought. Broken people, men and women. Forever.
