Everywhere children in bright colored shirts and shorts, with smiling faces, are laughing, running and shouting in the warm, flower scented air.
Stumbling along sadly is David, making his way across the backyard. Should he work? Should he play? What should a boy do?
In Play Ball!... After a furious battle over lemonade stands, the girls and boys make up, and join forces to play ball against the dreaded 'Bears' little league baseball team.
The cousins are down 3 to 0, with two outs. This is the last inning and their last chance. "Let's go, play ball! Batter up!" said the umpire. Raizel walks up to the plate. Soon it is two strikes and gloom is everywhere.
"Hey, look at Esty and Sam," said Mendel pointing, "they've got their caps on backwards. That's what the baseball players do when they want to turn bad luck around. Let's try it!"
So the cousins on the bench also turn their caps around. That's when some very strange things begin to happen.
