Carol Hay is a very modest and private person. Not many people know she is a prize-winning poet. The only reason she has consented to publish this book was she wanted to share her poetic gift with others. Her word selection and imagery have a resonance.
Carol MacNeill was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She learned her love of literature from her father who worked as a compositor for Houghton Mifflin. Carol has memories of him bringing home first editions of children’s books. While attending Boston College she met Toby Hay who was attending Harvard. They moved to Maui in 1969 to spend a year and decided to stay. The rest, as they say, is history. Carol never left their Massachusetts roots very far behind. She loves every holiday and in addition to sending cards, she has been known to have a special outfit for many of the holidays. She has a great sense of style. Even during Covid-19 quarantine, every evening she would come down to watch, with her friends, the Maui sun set over Lanai in a flowing color coordinated outfit. During the pandemic, friends became a family and provided each other with much needed humor, hope and love.
