THE LIFE OF EVERY WOMAN IS AN HEROIC JOURNEY

ByCarolina Clack

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The problem, in my case, is that I’m not a writer’s character and I’m really very close to being like this kind of girl, and I think it’s not quite right to seem like a Manic Pixie. A MPDG is a character who helps her men without pursuing her own happiness and who never grows up, hence neither do her men. So, we all stay in Neverland. Maybe that’s why I always fall for a Peter Pan. I’ve felt many times I’m one of the last romantics standing on planet Earth. As a matter of fact, the idea of romanticism is very complex for me. I don't quite understand what love is like, how it should feel, or how to create it in my life. I know I want to experience it. I desperately seek that feeling of belonging, of diluting myself, of feeling deeply in love with another human being. It’s not my fault. At least I'm not alone in this. Many women I know grew up with Cinderella, Snow White, Bewitched, Dream of Jeannie, with the one who threw her braid at the prince through the window and other stories that ended, all of them, in bliss and happily ever after. All those references left a mark on us and made us dream of Prince Charming, the one who knew how to rescue women in need, and who was willing to fight for them to death. In fact, I don't remember any children's story where she was the one fighting for his love; the battles that women had to face were caused by stepmothers; evil witches who wanted to lock them up, break them, kill them.
