211: Design History in the Making (Vol 2)

This book is comprised of student-written chapters from the Fall 2006 Design History Survey 211 course at the University of Illinois Urbana - Champaign. Each chapter is based on the student's own research and exploration of course material. Topics include the history of design and manufacturing techniques, different design movements, and the life experiences of iconic designers—placing the perspective within a social context and narrative Graphic and Industrial Design tends to concentrate on the more visual forms of communication. This book provides an opportunity for these design students to present their thoughts and opinions in a written and pictorial way. . Equally, students in other disciplines may benefit from pursuing a more visual approach. to communication and learning.
