Twelve-year-old Tanner Windsor has been paralysed from the waist down after accidentally being shot while playing with another friend in the woods.  When Colin and Billy Masterson, Tanner's closest friends learn about his accident, they buy him a special riding saddle for his birthday in the hope that he will want to go horseback riding with them again.  But before they can even think of giving him the saddle, Colin and Billy must put their friendship with Tanner to the test and help him open up and learn to trust again.
