Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
This book is based on the family tree of Eldora Margaret Weibel who was born in 1933 in the St. Mary's Ridge area of Monroe County, Wisconsin, USA. It includes stories and photos about families with the surnames of Weibel, Dosmann, Rademacher, Gross, Schumacher, Pfeiffer, Tiry, Meunier, and many more, as well as listings of their descendants. It also includes history about the pioneers who settled St. Mary's Ridge, a picturesque farming community selected by Lady Bird Johnson as a portrayal of America the Beautiful representing the state of Wisconsin. Seventeen of Eldora's direct-line ancestors immigrated to America between 1840 and 1868. Some went first to Washington County in eastern Wisconsin or to Ontario, Canada, but all of their families made their way to settle at St. Mary's Ridge. These immigrants were from what is now the German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen near Cologne, the German state of Saarland near Merzig, and the Bas-Rhin department of Alsace, France near the German border. They were German-speaking farmers who developed a community that revolved around their church, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on St. Mary's Ridge, and the corresponding St. Mary's Ridge Catholic School.
