Duckley’s local animal rescue centre, Sunshine Sanctuary, is threatened with closure, until two thirteen year old girls, Rachel and Melissa decide to take action. However, things don’t go according to plan. They get more than they bargained for with the arrival of Holly, a scared little dog that turns up at Sunshine Sanctuary. Rachel and Melissa are shocked when they suspect that Holly has been used in the illegal sport of badger baiting. When Holly mysteriously disappears the girls decide to form the Sunshine Sanctuary Animal Detectives. Using Melissa’s brains and Rachel’s courage and determination they find clues that lead them to track down the cruel Fuller family and bring them to justice. The school winter holidays are full of animal adventures, intrigue and even romance. The Sunshine Sanctuary Animal Detectives are on their first mission, but will they be able to save Holly from the badger baiters and the sanctuary from ruin?
