It is a great pleasure to introduce you to the story of a loving African American nun, Sister Beatrice “Bea” Jeffries. Bea was the 10th of 11 children born to the late Everett Lee and Catherine Ann (Gordon) Jeffries. She was very young when she entered the order of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament on September 8, 1964, and served 41 years in religious life. This story is actually a combination of stories written by the surviving brothers and sisters who shared a common bond created by loving parents. Bea was a true jewel and everyone knew and loved her. Often clad in Kente cloth scarves, and always full of joy and praise, she was rooted both in her Catholic and African American heritage. Each chapter tells the story of what it was like growing up with Bea and their fondest memories of her accomplishments. Sister Beatrice was a nationally recognized speaker, retreat director, revivalist, and consultant for religious congregations. She is truly a little known black history fact. Rest in Praise
