Charles Leslie (1650 - 1722), Anglican nonjuring divine, was born and educated in Dublin, Ireland.
In 1689 he moved to England, and authored numerous polemical tracts on religious and political topics.<p>The first edition of Leslie's <i>Socinian Controversy Discuss'd</i> was printed in 1708. He published a second edition in 1719. The edition reprinted here is from volume 1 of his two-volume Works, published in 1721.<p> In this work of Christian apologetics, Leslie endeavors to refute anyone who might be considered "antitrinitarian". Some chief targets include Unitarians or Socinians such as Stephen Nye, and subordinationist Samuel Clarke.
