This book is a collection of articles written about a global financial and economic crisis that created chaos in the capital markets. With debt ratio out of control, the markets were in a mode of “will help,” instead of a solution for the overall crisis. This led to a wave of deleveraging as investors exited the markets.
Highlighted during this crisis were the proposed solutions by the United States and their global counterparts. Some of the remedy planned by the United States Treasury was dubbed a “socialist solution” as part of the package meant the government had to take equity position in some institutions that were vulnerable to insolvency. I interpreted this action as a “stop-gap” for the crisis.
