Dick Turpin marries his sweetheart, Nelly Grafton, and settles down to a life of wedded bliss with her in Surrey. While there, he assists a tenant farmer who cannot pay the rent on the land he has leased from a wealthy landowner. Turpin holds up the landowner’s coach, takes 500 guineas from him and then gives half of the money to the tenant farmer so that the latter can pay the rent and avoid eviction.
