Earth Child follows the story of ten year old Cassandra Patourgour as she struggles to find meaning in her life and her surroundings. She has always been different and she longs to feel the same sense of belonging that she sees in others around her. Earth Child takes the reader along with Cassandra as she embarks on a journey filled with danger, excitement, adventure and discovery. Caring for the environment is a strong theme within the book and it also includes the themes of friendship and family relationships. Earth Child is the second novel written by young author, Chelsea Burgess. Chelsea is 11 years old, but writes with a depth and maturity far beyond her years. The book is aimed at readers aged 10-14 years, but will appeal to people of all ages. For a shorter read, including hand drawn illustrations by the author to appeal to a slightly younger audience (8-12 years) we recommend 'Backwards', the first novel written by the same author.
