The Wasteland of Belle de Mai - Graffiti of Marseille 2023 A cultural space, the Friche de la Belle de Mai invites you to meet Freedom of Expression, in a Republic of Contemporary Art, not far from the heart of Marseille. The Freedom to imagine, the Freedom to express oneself, to try or experiment, lets us glimpse the lines of a new horizon, a new thought, an idea to come. Formerly the wasteland was a tobacco factory. Today it is an exhibition space for contemporary art, even the art of the future. Proof that everything is possible in a Free world. Artists present trace their dreams, their sighs or their joys, in a symphony of open-air frescoes. Art metamorphoses and takes on various forms, various sounds, various drawings, various movements, without any barrier. Marseille remains a city where art finds an atypical and prodigious setting. Each fresco speaks of a memory, a sigh, a joy, an idea, sometimes asymmetrical images. Each graffiti carries a message that you need to know how to read, listen to and then discover. No one can prevent the expression of the imagination where the limit is infinity. Here we change dimension and contemplate the spectacle of the moment. The spontaneity of a present moment, where we find the past and the future, lets you see an imaginary world, perhaps better than the real world. Simple passing among these ephemeral frescoes, but having had the merit of existing, I immortalized them in this album. Perhaps in a year, or ten, or a hundred, these frescoes will no longer be there. A place of contemporary art, anchored in the past and open to the future, it gives meaning to our existence.
