The story of Saint Dismas, usually known as the penitent-thief; one of two such thieves crucified on either side of Jesus-Christ (Son of the Living-God) at Golgotha (Calvary), Jerusalem around the year 33-AD. Just why the life of Saint Dismas is important to us, becomes more and more evidenced as the drama of this short-play progresses - "Three crosses stand at Calvary's height/one must be chosen, so choose aright/-To die like a saint, or a penitent thief/Or to die like a reprobate in endless grief" (St. Louis De Montfort). At this point Hilaire Belloc's essay "A Portrait of a Child" is well-worth a mention, for those who might dispute this rhyme. But for those willing and courageous enough to encounter the great mysteries of human reality (mortality) and suffering, this non-fictional history derived from two oral-traditions concerning the life of Dismas, are here presented in dramatization for your reflection and encouragement - God Bless and Keep You, Always!
