Ninety-five dollars brought 40 acres of rowdy stony rough land in east-central Minnesota late in 1958. My father set in clearing a spot for a cabin built from salvaged storm windows and 2x4s with discarded sidewalk blocks for a floor. No running water or electricity, the cabin was a city family’s escape. We called it The Woods.
My father put together a history with photos and text from the early years, I recorded next generation chapters from the late 1990's into the 2000's. The characters, the seasons, the explorations both internally and geographically are repeat serial actors. So is the humor we get to enjoy as it all works together through the years at … The Woods.
