Rooted: An 8-Week Walk Through Colossians for Creatives

Being a Christian from a young age, I learned all the methods for how to study your Bible (Observe, Interpret, Apply anyone?). These served me well as I grew in my faith and provided a foundation for me to return to in times of aimlessness. But some of my sweetest times in God’s word have been the ones where His word has been born in me through creating with my hands. Often for me this is writing- letting my pen dance across the page, words coming so fast I barely lift it up. Or making the watercolor on my brush soar across the paper, bringing texture and color and shape to the meditations of my heart. I have met God so profoundly in creativity. God is the ultimate Creator after all, fashioning us in His own image to create. Creativity is powerful and purposeful. It is not to be separated from the Bible and Theology but married to it, so that our experience of God lives not only in our minds but also our hearts and hands. If you’re anything like me, you long for resources that reflect the unique ways you as a creative connect with God. This book is going to look, act, and feel different than most other devotionals. I designed it to adapt to your needs and schedule, and I want you to feel free to let this book inspire you in your own creativity and walk in Scripture. This is an 8-week devotional with three devotional entries per week. At the beginning of each week, I introduce the creative practice that will accompany the devotional content. You’ll find prompts and ideas to help inspire you, but ultimately the schedule and way you choose to create is up to you!
