This book is about the Officers and Men of the 2nd Dragoon Guards also known as The Queens Bays during their very difficult time during The Indian Mutiny in the East Indies 1856 to 1859. The regiment suffered heavily from the climate, losing ninety-one soldiers and one Officer to heat- exhaustion, and an outbreak of Cholera. Twenty-Eight soldiers and two Officers are just described as dead. Only eight soldiers and one officer are declared as Killed in Action during the sMutiny. The regiment achieved high praise for their ‘Charge and Pursue’ in the effort to relieve the City of Lucknow. In some circles it was classed as the smartest, thought, somewhat rash thing that has been done before Lucknow. Three Victoria Crosses were won by the regiment during this Campaign.
