Who were the two 17th Century Cavaliers who were the first governors of New York in 1664-1673? Richard Nicolls and Francis Lovelace -- about whom very little is known except details of how they governed New York, which was brilliantly. Their early history is invented to give them experiences that led to this brillaince.
