Another Ugly Critic Some say poems shouldn’t be ugly. But if they are about war and wickedness, Perhaps they have to be. So, sometimes to be effective, True poets have to sing harshly Rather than always harmoniously. Likewise, a critic might use words that are painful To motivate a poet to write well. And I am critic who is cruel and ugly That the Devil kicked me out of Hell. But I Believe that this poet is an exeption, For when writing about evil, He sometimes manges to make light. And lurking in the back of even his angry poems, Optimism might be just out of sight.
