The first in a cycle of five symphonic poems entitled 'Fy Ngwlad - My Country' (Cymru - Wales!).
Based on a legend from Lleyn: Meinir hides in a hollow tree to avoid being carried to church on her wedding day (tradition!): trapped, she dies. Years later the tree is struck by lightning and her skeleton falls to the ground in front of her by now totally deranged bridegroom. Strong stuff! This work was awarded the Meirion Williams Prize at the 1993 National Eisteddfod of Wales. Dedicated to my daughters, Kate and Amelia. Duration: 9 minutes. Please contact me directly regarding parts.
