Nestled in a quiet rural setting along the southern banks of the White River, the miniscule town of Wayne, Indiana has a dark secret. Fifty years ago the salt-of-the-earth citizens, including a nun, committed a horrible crime against humanity (they lynched and mutilated a lecherous black preacher). Something ghoulish remembers. It wants revenge, and it’s prepared to commit unspeakable acts to achieve it. Now, nature has exposed the town’s sins with a little flood.
