Phototype

A collaboration of words and images. Artists’ Statement: We know what you’re thinking: photos, stories, artists’ statements, and the inevitable 1,000 to 1 ratio. The thing is—we don’t believe that. Some photos only speak one word...or two, or maybe a dozen. And stories aren’t words. Stories are sculptures, with a base and height and depth and breadth. We didn’t try to echo each other’s style or thoughts. That would be redundant. Instead, we tried to build upon each other’s work, to provide intricate frames for each other’s still-lives. This is a little of how we see life, and its true collaboration is in friendship.
