The author, Darrell Candice Christopher (pseudonym), was born, raised and educated in Baltimore, Maryland. As a boy, he spent his early years in the inner-city, living in the cold, rough, brutal, violent, drug ridden and constantly frightening infamous Latrobe Public Housing complex in east Baltimore City with his 2 brothers and his teenage mother in a single parent household. The public housing complex is located only one block from the infamous Maryland Penitentiary. He attended catholic schools, St. James & John Elementary School, St. Wenceslaus Middle School and he finally graduated from St. Frances Academy High School in 1980. He continued his higher-level education at the Community College of Baltimore County, Frostburg State University, UMBC, University of Delaware & Walden University. He finally graduated with a degree in Counseling from Morgan State University in 1985.
After his graduation from MSU, he worked for over 25 years as a caring Counselor, Teacher and Human Service Worker for various charitable organizations such as The Fellowship of Lights, a shelter for emotionally & mentally troubled teenage runaways, The North Baltimore Youth Service Bureau, a family counseling center, Our Daily Bread, a soup kitchen for the homeless, well managed by The Associated Catholic Charities, The YWCA Shelter for Homeless Women and Families, The Bethel AME Church - GED program on Druid Hill Ave., YMCA Community Center on Druid Hill Ave. & St. Frances Academy!
