Defacto Heroes

Once again, author David Boyer digs deep inside of the human condition, providing us with an in depth look into the fact that we have real life heroes around us everyday, and don't even realize it until they enter our own lives. In the story, “Detox,” an alcoholic war veteran, living in a cheap motel, decides to rob a local liquor store for a big score, but instead ends up taking down one of the biggest criminals in town. In “Vigilante,” a janitor who works at a huge apartment complex lives a secret life as a vigilante, ridding his neighborhood of criminals one by one. In “Love Is Blind,” a former novelist who has thrown his career away due to his own selfishness and substance abuse, becomes a hero when he saves the life of a robbery victim, only to realize that he's just met the love of his life, and he was meant to be a hero all along.
